Friday 15th August - Jaguarland

5.00 am get up for our first drive, we stopped  for the Azara’s Night Monkey but we were just too late as they disappeared before we could find them. The rest of day followed the pattern of drives, breaks and out again for the afternoon and evening. It was fairly uneventful for mammals, with Crab-eating Foxes and deer predominating.

We did see Collared Peccary, South American Coati and Azara's Agouti as well as Orinocco Goose, Picui Ground Dove, Guira Cuckoo, Red-breasted Meadowlark and White-throated Piping Guan among the more usual birds. We also had a Yellow-footed Tortoise.

At one stop David found a Great Pottoo roosting on a branch. It was very well camouflaged and took a bit of sorting out. We also had a few nice birds including various Macaws like Chestnut-fronted, Blue-and-Yellow, Red-bellied and Red-and-green, Turquoise-fronted Amazon and Ringed Kingfisher,
