Day 17th - 4th March

We had a reasonably leisurely breakfast, talked about our options and kept trying to find flights.

In between fighting with airlines we managed to watch the birds in the garden and flying over. There were Silverbills nesting in boxes on the wall of the accommodation, sunbirds in the flowers, a wagtail on the lawn and Herons, Storks and other birds moving between Sultanpur and the surrounding fields.

The day was Holi, a hindu festival of colour celebrating the triumph of good over evil and involving dancing, music and throwing coloured powders and enjoying festive treats. The hotel had a party booked in the back area and sounded great fun. We wandered round the back area and met up with a man wielding coloured paint. He asked me to exchange thumb prints on the forehead, which I did. There were also people with powder paint in their clothes and it all sounded great fun.

It was also the owners birthday and he had a family party on the lawn with a lovely chocolate cake which he came over and shared with us.
