Day 14 - 1st March - Drive to Delhi and Home

We packed for the trip home, boarded the bus after breakfast and set off for the airport. Checking the news, we discovered that Trump had joined with Netanyahu to bomb the mid-east.

The journey was fairly straightforward with a couple of stops for Sarus Cranes and Jacanas, and a lunch stop.

As we got closer to Delhi it became apparent that our flights were cancelled due to Qatar closing its airspace. The website said to contact them, which we did, through ‘X’ but what we got were scammers, who managed to take £850 from my account, by giving me a money transfer account, supposedly to pay into my account. We had nothing from the airlines apart from an email to say the flight was cancelled and as we got closer to Delhi, we had no idea what was happening. We expected a message to say they would find us accommodation but nothing. We eventually decided to go into the airport to see what help we could get. We went through the door security and then to the Indigo desk, where they said it was nothing to do with them as the flights were booked through Qatar airways. We went to the information desk, but they were little help. There is no Qatar airways presence at the airport, which is odd as we flew in with them, but they did give me a phone number to try and call, which wasn’t being answered and eventually wasn’t even ringing.

We thought the best thing was to try and find a hotel for the night and see what we could sort out tomorrow. Alan found a hotel on Booking.com, organised two taxis to take us there and we set off. Almost as soon as we started driving, our driver started saying it would cost twice  as much, which we reminded him we had agreed a price but he kept repeating, it was for each car, not both. When we got to the hotel Alan forcefully reminded him that we had agreed a price and he wasn’t getting any more. It was eventually sorted and we checked into the Best Suites Hotel, had some dinner and went to bed, not sure what was going to happen.
