Winter break to Senegal - 16th - 23rd January

Monday 16th January

We left home about 7.00 am to drive to Heathrow. The weather wasn't too bad but it did start to sleet and snow around the M25, which slowed everyone down. We checked the car in, collected the bus and headed to Terminal 3 to meet up with Brenda and Alan before our 11.25 flight to Madrid for a connecting flight to Dakar. We went through check-in and security without a problem, bought a sandwich and a drink and waited for the flight. As it was a relatively short flight, food and drink was charged for. The stopover in Madrid was around 2.30 hours and we were soon on our way to Dakar. We had a meal and a drink before playing 'Find the Object' games until we landed. Making our way through security and case pick up we managed to identify, and introduce ourselves to, the other members of the group so we knew their names before we met up with Chris and headed towards the bus.

It was a about a half hour drive to the hotel but as it was dark, there wasn't much to see. We disembarked the bus in the courtyard, collected our luggage, found our rooms and went to bed, ready for a 7.00 am breakfast. It was very warm.
