Frozen lake.

Breakfast was much more of an international affair with everything from cereal to porridge to fried sausages and bacon, with scrambled egg, cold meat and cheese and gherkins, accompanied by a wide selection of bread and rolls.

Our flight home wasn't until lunch time so we had time to explore around Ivalo. So after packing up and paying up,we drove back, along the road we had taken the night before and then branched off left towards ......... We stopped at a few places, checking out feeders finding one with a couple of Pine Grosbeaks and more redpolls. When we got to the end of the road we parked in the car park of the boat yard and walked back along the road looking for feeders. One house had a couple of feeders outside and we saw more Pine Grosbeaks and redpolls. Across Finland we had seen notices for skidoo trails and one went along the river (winter only). A stroll out for photos and the realisation that in a few weeks this would all be water before we turned around and headed back to Ivalo airport and our flight home. This is a lovely small airport and customs and security took only minutes, although we were lucky as a coach load turned up just after we'd gone through. We had a pleasant flight into Helsinki where the short, 55 minute, wait was easily long enough to transfer to the International flight to Heathrow.
